The problem
The organization's records lived in Zoho CRM with no independent copy. If data was deleted, overwritten by a bad import, or requested by a regulator from a specific date, there was nothing to go back to.
What I built
- A nightly export of every active module, using Zoho's bulk export so it runs no matter how many records there are.
- A dated folder for each day in a dedicated team folder, so finding "what did this look like on the 14th?" takes seconds.
- A report after each run of what was exported, so a failed night doesn't go unnoticed.
- Automatic cleanup of backups past their retention period.
- Empty and retired modules excluded, so the backups stay lean.
What changed
There's a copy of every record from every night, in a place the compliance officer can open and show someone. Recovering from a bad import is a restore, not a rebuild.
